Get Off the Goal Setting Hamster Wheel

We’ve all had the experience of setting a goal, defining what we want, then we set about to make ourselves do it. If we’re really motivated to begin with, we might even dive in for a few days, and maybe even follow through.

But then, life happens or we begin to lose motivation, we say, I’ll make it up on the weekend or I’ll do it tomorrow. And then we keep losing motivation, procrastinating until…we completely fall off the wagon.

At the Conscious level, we are picking the goal, we are picking the goal, defining what we want, but then at the Unconscious level, we are fighting with ourselves which results in procrastination, lack of motivation and ultimately sabotage!

Through the course of life, our brains get programmed with both the positive and negative experiences of life. This then becomes what our Unconscious Mind or Automatic Mind references any time we are faced with something. So for example, I’m going to ask you a question:

Scale of 1-10: How much do you like to exercise? 1-10 (10 being high) = ____

Whatever your number, that number is the result of your Unconscious mind (like a highly compact super computer) sorting through the  positive and negative experiences about exercise and you get a feeling about it.

If you had more negative experiences and history with exercise, you’d have a more negative number. If you had more positive experiences with exercise, you’d have a more positive number.

The things you want to move forward in your life may not be around exercise, but everything in your life is referenced by your Unconscious Mind or Automatic Mind. When we go through experiences of life that cause us to think negatively, we get mental blocks.

These mental blocks cause procrastination, dragging our feet and even sabotaging ourselves and our progress!

But when you get your BRAIN onboard with your Conscious desires, it all gets easier!
