The funny thing about worry, we are projecting into the future something going amiss. It’s not real, it’s not happening now, it’s imagined. We are reacting to our own imagination. And when we worry – we feel stressed.
When we feel stressed, the body responds and stressors can build up to a level of anxiety decreasing our quality of life, impeding our clarity and even affect our health.
So how do you get your brain out of worry and stress?
When we worry, it usually sounds like: What if I don’t have enough? What if my car breaks down? Or even, What is the worst that can happen? Notice how your brain and body feel as you think about these questions. Pause and notice.
The interesting thing about the mind, whenever you ask it a question, it will go find the answer for you. So if you are asking, “What if I don’t have enough?” The brain responds by imagining that, focusing on that and then your body actually responds to what you imagine. You may feel tension or agitated or even anxiety. If you are asking, what’s the worst that can happen? That’s even worse, there’s always something worse that can happen and infinite possibilites that can go wrong, this line of questioning leads to stress, sleepless nights, body tension, and I believe ultimately anxiety patterns and health issues.
Start countering money worries and anxiety by asking better questions…imagine better solutions
What makes money simpler and easier? What can help my money situation? What generates more income? Or even, how can money just get better?
Notice how your brain and body feel as you ask these questions. Pause and notice. What does it draw your attention to? Yep, solutions.
So which would you rather have? Yep, go with what feels better.
