Neuro Linguistic Programming, NLP was developed by researchers at Santa Cruz University in the 1970’s. Richard Bandler, a mathmetician and John Grinder, psychologist, were seeing a difference between certain therapists that were getting amazing results with clients, while the clients of other therapists seemed to just bump along year after year.
Seeing the difference, they said there must be something they are doing. If we could observe these great practitioners, we could break down what they are doing and teach it to other people. So that’s what they did. They studied:
- Milton Erickson, Internationally reknowned Psychiatrist and Hypnotherapist. This is where they got a lot of language patterns.
- Virginia Satir, Family Therapist, Dynamic Family Systems. Understanding relationships at a deeper level and how our interactions mirror our inner selves.
- Moshe Feldenkrais, physical therapist, regarded as the father of somatic and body centered therapies.
- Among others.
They didn’t want to know the psychopathology of people – why people were wrong or broken. They wanted to know what actually worked. So they video taped some of the great masters of the time, and what they observed were the inner building blocks and leverage points of how to shift minds and transform perspectives and even very practically, change habits, patterns and phobias.
Since its inception over 50 years ago, the field of NLP has grown to a dynamic body of knowledge and skill set known around the world. The field is much more than body language and language skills, it has grown to over 300 NLP processes designed to make transformational and REAL world change.
The tools and skills are fun and engaging, come experience and get the practice for your Mind-Brain! No prior experience necessary and open to the public.
